Onion coconut Paratha

Parathas are an all time favourite weekend breakfast at home. So this time I made onion paratha with some coconut flavour. I added fresh grated coconut along with other ingredients and kneaded with coconut milk. Simple, easy and delicious, it gives a completely new taste to our daily parathas. Enjoy them hot with yoghurt, green chutney, pickle or butter. Please check for a step by step guide with pictures to prepare it.

  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • salt to taste
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp. ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 green chilies,
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp. garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
  • 1/2 cup fresh grated coconut
  • 2-3 tbsp. coriander leaves, chopped
  • coconut milk to knead
  • oil to shallow fry

In a bowl, combine all the above mentioned ingredients (except oil) and knead into a dough with the coconut milk. Cover and keep aside for 15-20 minutes.

Divide into equal portions and roll out each portion into a disc just like chapatti. Heat a tawa / griddle and shallow fry them one at a time till light golden on both sides. Relish with yoghurt, pickle, green chutney or butter.
