This is a basic bread recipe for everyday use, which is done in a microwave in the micro powder mode. To make it more healthy, I have used olive oil. orange juice and orange zest instead of sugar and butter.
A home made bread is anytime better than a store bought one. This is a very quick recipe and in just 5 minutes, your bread is done. It does not have the usual brown crust on the surface, but nevertheless it simply tastes awesome. Please check below a step by step guide with pictures to prepare it.
- 2 cups atta (whole wheat flour)
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. instant yeast
- 2 tbsp. oil
- 1 tsp. orange zest
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- flour to dust
In a bowl, combine the flour, salt and yeast. Add the oil, orange juice and orange zest. Knead into a soft, pliable dough by adding required quantity of water.
Cover and let it rest for 2 hours in a warm place. Knead again for 2-3 minutes and transfer to a greased and floured loaf pan. Keep aside to rest for a further 1 hour.
Place the loaf pan in the microwave along with a bowl of water so that it does not dry out. Microwave on high for 5 minutes.
Transfer to a wire rack and let it cool. Cut into slices and serve with butter, jam or eggs. Preserve the remaining in a close air-tight container in the refrigerator.
