Red Dragon Fruit Kalakand

 

           This Red Dragon Fruit kalakand is a healthy version with the goodness of paneer and the fruit. Garnish as desired with chopped nuts and enjoy them chilled or at room temperature. So check out the step by step pictorial recipe to prepare this exotic sweet and surprise your loved ones with this yummy and an unique dessert.



          Kalakand is a traditional and a very popular Indian dessert that is generally served during festivals and special occasions. It is grainy in texture and a very simple recipe with very few ingredients. It is very easy to prepare and takes very little time to dish out.

         Red Dragon Fruit, on the other hand, is a tropical fruit rich in fibre and antioxidants, but low in calories. It is mildly sweet in taste and has many nutritional benefits. The outer part of this fruit almost resembles a dragon, hence the name. 




          This Kalakand is visually very attractive with its vibrant dark pink / red color. Adjust the ghee and sweetness according to your preference. You can add jaggery or brown sugar instead, for a healthier version.  




  • 200 gms. paneer, crumbled 
  • 1 tbsp. ghee
  • 1 Red Dragon fruit, pureed
  • 2 tbsp. milk powder
  • 2-3 tbsp. sugar or to taste 
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp. rose water
  • 1/4 tsp. cardamom powder 
  • 1-2 tbsp. pistachios & almonds, chopped








           In a non-stick pan, add the Red Dragon Fruit puree and simmer on a low flame till all the moisture has evaporated. 

          Add all the ingredients (except chopped nuts). Mix everything well & keep stirring continuously on a low flame till the mixture starts to come together in a dough form & leaves the sides of the pan. 

          Transfer to a greased plate and garnish with the chopped nuts. Allow it to cool and refrigerate for some time till it sets.  

          Cut into desired shapes and enjoy as and when desired. Great for any festive occasion or as an after meal dessert. 



             In a non-stick pan, add the Red Dragon Fruit puree.

                 Add all the ingredients (except chopped nuts).


      Mix everything well & keep stirring continuously on a low flame....


....till the mixture starts to come together in a dough form & leave the sides of the pan. 




Transfer it to a greased plate & garnish with chopped nuts. Allow it to cool & then refrigerate till it sets. Then cut into desired shapes. 



              Enjoy as and when desired.



        Great for any festive occasion or as an after meal dessert.

Red Dragon Fruit Burfi

 

          Burfi is one of the most common and popular Indian sweets. It is a must in all Indian festivals, ceremonies or any auspicious occasions. So want to surprise your loved ones with a really unique Burfi recipe?

         So here is an easy and instant Burfi recipe prepared with Red Dragon Fruit. They come out real yummy and takes very little time to dish out. The recipe is very simple with very few ingredients, but the end product is just amazing.

         These Burfis are visually very attractive with its vibrant dark pink / red colour. Adjust the ghee and sweetness according to your preference. You can add jaggery or brown sugar instead for a healthier version.

  • 1/4 cup milk powder
  • 1/2 tsp. cardamom powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1-2 tbsp. chopped almond & pistachios



          Heat 1 tbsp. ghee in a pan and add the semolina. Roast on a low flame for 2-3 minutes or till light golden in colour. 

          Add the pureed dragon fruit, cardamom powder and jaggery powder. Mix  everything well and keep stirring on a low flame till all the moisture has been absorbed. 

          Now add the milk and cook till almost dry, but moist. Then add the milk powder, followed by the remaining ghee. Continue to cook till everything comes together like a dough. 

          Switch off the flame and transfer the contents to a greased plate. Garnish with chopped almonds and pistachios. Allow it to cool and then refrigerate for some time till it is nicely set. 

          Cut as desired and enjoy them at room temperature or chilled. It is ideal for any festive occasion or as an after meal dessert.

Red Dragon Fruit Peda

 

          Check out these yummy Pedas prepared with Red Dragon Fruit. The recipe is very simple with very few ingredients, but the end product is just amazing and mouth watering. These Pedas are visually very attractive to look with its vibrant dark pink / red colour. So check out the step by step pictorial recipe to prepare this sweet treat. 



          Dragon Fruit, be they White or Red, is a versatile fruit with which many desserts can be prepared. Peda on the other hand, is a very popular sweet in the Northern parts of India. It is offered as prasad to devotees in the temples. 

         This Fruit, typically is a tropical fruit rich in fibre and antioxidants, but low in calories. It is mildly sweet in taste and has many nutritional benefits. The outer part of this fruit almost resembles a dragon, hence the name.



  • 1 red dragon fruit, pureed
  • 2 tbsp. ghee
  • 1/2 cup semolina
  • 1/4 cup sugar or to taste (I used brown sugar)
  • 1/4 cup milk powder
  • 1/2 tsp. cardamom powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1-2 tbsp. chopped almond




          Heat 1 tbsp. ghee in a pan and add the semolina. Roast on a low flame for 2-3 minutes or till light golden in colour. 

          Add the pureed dragon fruit, cardamom powder and brown sugar. Mix  everything well and keep stirring on a low flame till all the moisture has been absorbed. 

          Now add the milk and cook till almost dry, but moist. Then add the milk powder, followed by the remaining ghee. 

          Continue to cook till everything comes together like a dough. Keep aside to cool slightly.

          Take a little portion of the dough and make round pedas. Make an impression in the centre with your finger and stuff with chopped pistachios and almonds.

Red Dragon Fruit Millet Kheer / Payasam

 

           Kheer / Payasam is one of the most common and a very popular Indian sweets. It is a must in all festivals, ceremonies or auspicious occasions. So check out this yummy and healthy kheer prepared with foxtail millet and red dragon fruit puree. It turned out really delicious and appealing with a rich vibrant colour.

          


               Foxtail millet can be substituted with any other millet of your choice. You can also replace the sugar with jaggery, dates puree or stevia to make it diabetic friendly. It takes very little time to dish out and turns out just amazing with just a few ingredients easily available in your kitchen. You can relish at room temperature or chilled. 

                It can be enjoyed as a festive dessert, an after meal dessert or as a side dish with poori / paratha. It is simply wholesome and very satisfying. Serve, garnished as desired and enjoy. So check out a quick step by step pictorial recipe to prepare this healthy fruity millet kheer. 



  • 1 cup cooked & slightly mashed Foxtail Millet
  • 1 red dragon fruit, pureed
  • 1 tsp. ghee
  • 2 cups full fat milk
  • pinch of salt
  • 2-3 tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. cardamom powder
  • 1/4 cup milk powder
  • 1-2 tbsp. chopped pistachios & almonds




             Transfer the dragon fruit puree and ghee to a pan. Simmer on a low flame for 4-5 minutes. Keep aside to cool. 

             Bring the milk to a boil along with a pinch of salt. Add all the ingredients (except dragon fruit puree) and mix everything well.

             Simmer on a low flame and keep stirring till the kheer turns slightly thick.

             Now add the dragon fruit puree and give it a mix. Simmer for 2-3 minutes. Garnish as desired and serve at room temperature or chilled.



Transfer the dragon fruit puree & ghee to a pan. Simmer on a low flame for 4-5 minutes. Keep aside to cool. 



Bring the milk to a boil along with a pinch of salt. Add all the ingredients (except dragon fruit puree) & mix everything well. Simmer on a low flame & keep stirring  till the kheer turns slightly thick.



                      Add the dragon fruit puree.



                      Mix well & simmer for 2-3 minutes. 


       Garnish as desired & serve at room temperature or chilled.

Red Dragon Fruit Shrikhand

 

          How about some sweet indulgence? So let me share a yummy Shrikhand recipe made of Dragon Fruit. It makes for a perfect summer treat. This is an extremely easy recipe. Be sure to have this visually appealing dessert chilled for a divine experience.

            I simply love to dig into this melt-in-the-mouth delicacy. If you are a Dragon Fruit lover, you will simply love this dessert. Garnish with some cubed Dragon fruit  and chopped pistachios. Voila!! You have a yummy fuss-free healthy dessert in a jiffy. Enjoy as and when desired or as an after-meal dessert.

      




          Shrikhand is a rich and creamy traditional Maharashtrian Dessert prepared with hung yoghurt. It is a very easy dessert that can be made in no time if the hung yoghurt is ready. It is usually flavored with saffron and cardamom powder for the original version. 

         However, I gave a healthy twist to this dessert by adding some reduced Dragon Fruit puree and it turned out simply yummy. This way you can make the best use of any leftover fruits by dishing out this easy to prepare dessert. 

           I flavored it with cardamom powder. You may add rose or kewra water if you wish. This healthy dessert is an ideal party recipe or can be prepared for any festive occasion. It can also be enjoyed as an after meal dessert. Choice is yours. So check out the step by step pictorial recipe to prepare this healthy summer treat. 





  • 2 cups yoghurt
  • 1 Red Dragon Fruit, pureed
  • 2-3 tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. cardamom powder
  • 1 tsp. chopped pistachios
  • few chopped Dragon fruit cubes
  • a sprig of mint






          Pour the yoghurt in a cheese cloth and place on a strainer. Keep this on a bowl in the refrigerator overnight. The thick hung yoghurt is used for the recipe.  

          Transfer the Dragon Fruit puree to a pan. Add sugar and simmer on a low flame till all the moisture has evaporated. Keep aside to cool. 

         In a bowl, take the hung yoghurt, reduced Dragon Fruit and cardamom powder, Whisk well till smooth and refrigerate till serving time.

         Garnish with cubed Dragon fruit chopped pistachios and mint. Relish as an after meal dessert or anytime you desire.

              Whisk well till smooth & refrigerate till serving time.



        Garnish with cubed Dragon fruit chopped pistachios & mint. 



          Relish as an after meal dessert or anytime you desire.
