Onion Soup is a very popular and a signature French Soup. It is a simple, delicious and a hearty one-pot meal. But today I gave a twist to it and made it in an Indian fusion style, complete with our very own traditional spices like coriander powder, garam masala powder, etc.
Serve, garnished with fried onions, cheese, coriander leaves and bread croutons for an amazing light dinner. So check out the step by step pictorial recipe to prepare it.
- 3 large onions, sliced
- 3-4 garlic cloves, chopped
- salt to taste
- 1/4 tsp. turmeric powder
- 1 tsp. roasted coriander-cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp. garam masala powder
- 1/2 tsp. pepper powder or to taste
- 2-3 tbsp. roasted oats
- 1 chicken / vegetable cube
- 1 tsp. oil
- 1 tsp. butter
- 1-2 tbsp. fried onions
- 1-2 tbsp. coriander leaves, chopped
- 1-2 tbsp. grated cheese
- few bread croutons
Heat oil and butter in a pan and sauté the garlic first till light brown. Add the onion and continue to fry till light golden in colour.
Now add all the dry spices and mix well. Switch off the flame. Add the oats, chicken / vegetable cube and 3-4 cups water.
Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles. When it cools down, blend it and heat through. Serve, garnished with coriander leaves, fried onion cheese and bread croutons.
Heat oil & butter. Sauté garlic till light brown. Add onion & fry till light
golden in colour.
Add all dry dry spices & mix well. Switch off the flame.
Add oats, chicken / vegetable cube & 3-4 cups water.
