Eggless Whole Wheat (Atta) Biscuits


          If you are looking for some easy to bake homemade biscuits, then this recipe is just for you. It is prepared with whole wheat flour (Atta) along with saffron and a hint of kewra flavour, besides other basic ingredients. For a more healthy version, you can try with brown sugar / jaggery and oil instead of butter. 

          Perfect for an evening tea-time snack, they can also be devoured anytime you feel like munching into something sweet. So check out the step by step pictorial recipe to prepare these crispy delicate bites.











  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar or to taste, powdered
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 100 gms. butter, chilled
  • 1/4 tsp. cardamom powder
  • pinch of saffron
  • 1 tsp. kewra / rose water
  • 2-3 tbsp. milk or as required








          In a mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder, pinch of salt, sugar, cardamom powder and saffron. Add the butter and mix everything well so that it resembles breadcrumbs.

         Add the kewra water and required quantity of milk to knead it. Grease a baking tray and place a butter paper over it.

          Roll out into a circle by dusting some flour. It should neither be too thick or thin. Cut with a biscuit / cookie cutter and arrange them on the baking tray. Gather all the remaining dough and roll out again.

          Cut them further with a cutter and likewise use up all the dough. Bake the biscuits at 180 degrees C for 15 minutes.

           Set them aside to cool down before storing them in an airtight container. Enjoy these crisp and healthy whole wheat biscuits as it is or as a tea-time snack.
