Egg Dosa (Pancake/Crepes - South Indian Style)

This is a healthy and a nutritious non-veg. dosa with the addition of some beaten eggs. Sprinkle some pepper powder or chili flakes to make them spicy. You can also add coriander leaves or mint leaves for added flavour. This combination works just fine for a bit of a culinary adventure.

It is a perfect breakfast option where it can be relished with coconut chutney or sambar. Kids would love to have them with ketchup. It can also be had with some green chutney for some variation. They can also be enjoyed anytime of the day for a light and satisfied meal. So check out the step by step pictorial recipe to prepare it.

  • dosa batter as required
  • eggs as required, beaten with a pinch of salt
  • oil to shallow fry
  • pepper powder as required
  • chili flakes as required
  • sambar and coconut chutney to serve

Heat a tawa / griddle and drizzle 1/2 tsp. oil. Sprinkle some water and allow it to sizzle off. Wipe dry with a tissue paper or a 1/2 cut onion. This ensures a non-stick coating.

Pour a ladlefull of the dosa batter and make a circular pattern with the back of your ladle. Pour some beaten egg over it and swirl around to spread evenly.

Sprinkle some pepper powder or chili flakes and cook on one side for a minute or two on a medium flame before flipping it over.

Cook the other side too and remove on a plate. Make similar dosas with the remaining batter and beaten eggs. If preferred you can add an egg to each dosa. Serve them hot with sambar and coconut chutney.

Pour a ladleful of the dosa batter & spread into a circle with back of the
ladle. Pour some beaten egg & some pepper powder or.....

                                  Sprinkle some pepper powder.

You can sprinkle some chili flakes too.
