Trifle Pudding

Everybody's favourite, this yummy pudding hardly takes any time to prepare. Just a little bit of assembling, and you have a surprise dessert in front of you. Cake slices, assorted fresh fruits, mixed dry fruits, custard and jelly are layered one over the other. Tastes simply delicious, it is a sure hit at parties. So be sure to make some extra.

  • 500 gms. cake, thinly sliced (any flavour)
  • 1 litre milk
  • 4-5 tbsp. sugar or to taste
  • 3 tbsp. custard powder, any flavour
  • 1/2 cup orange / any juice
  • 1 cup assorted fruits, chopped
  • jelly made from 1 pack
  • 2 tbsp. mixed dry fruits, chopped

To make the custard, heat the milk (leaving 1/2 cup aside) and sugar. After it comes to a boil, lower the flame and simmer for 3-4 minutes. Mix the custard powder with 1/2 cup milk.

Pour this mix into the boiling milk, gently and keep stirring continuously till it starts getting thicker. Leave aside to cool. Then refrigerate.

Prepare the jelly according to the instructions given on the pack. Leave aside to cool and then refrigerate.

Take a serving glass casserole. Line the surface with the cake slices. Pour the orange juice over it to keep it moist. Layer with the chopped fruits and the mixed dry fruits.

Now pour the prepared custard over the fruits and refrigerate. Just before serving, slice the jelly into desired shapes and decorate over the custard pudding. Serve chilled.
